Homage to T'oros Roslin
This illumination (actually executed on gesso) is a greetings card design for the Institute of Orthodox Christian Studies, Cambridge. The composition is my own invention but once again I've borrowed all sorts of things from medieval Armenian master T'oros Roslin. You can find digital reproductions of some of his work on line, but it is mostly hidden away in libraries - I'd love to see one of these in the original.
The view from my desk
