The author persuaded me with great enthusiasm to provide sample illustrations in order to take her (German) story book to a publisher. He was more interested in my artwork than her text. She then cancelled our collaboration and self-published, paying for rudimentary cartoons from someone else. Many hours unpaid, much chagrin, lesson learned! But no good work should go to waste: I have published my own story book now, re-working many elements into my illustrations.
