I am among a tiny number of contemporary artists creating original work with the authentic materials and exacting techniques of medieval manuscript illumination: raised gilding, glair, mineral pigments and calfskin vellum. My modern miniatures pay homage to the miniature masterpieces of medieval art, and celebrate the natural world with delicacy and humour. Here you have a unique opportunity to buy or commission a small jewel, a meaningful commemoration of a wedding, birthday, anniversary or special occasion.

Night in the Garden: illuminated miniatures on vellum
The decorative setting of these pieces is  homage to the great French miniaturist Jean Pucelle, inventor of the drollery. The apparently charming creatures are a reminder of  the unseen nocturnal life of our tame back gardens - watchers, hunters and prey.

Illuminated ​prayer of St Ephraim the Syrian
In the style of my art hero T'oros Roslin, 13th century Armenian monk and illuminator. A desert hermit of the 4th century, St Ephraim (or Ephrem) wrote this wonderful prayer - my own translation.
